Islantilla Golf is the best place to live in Costa de la Luz. Find out why...
Looking for the a place or country that you feel home is not easy. You cannot have everything in one place. There's pro's and con's in every decision that you make in your life. We tried it now and then, looking for a place where we can settle and to have a simple healthier life style.
It's not perfect and not paradise at all. There are times that we wanted to give up and stay where we were. Leaving your family behind.. your house, your friends, places and things that you are used to it for many years. You need a lot of courage to do it. You need money, savings and the right time. Do it while you can and while your children are small because its easier for them to adapt the culture and the language. Our son who is now 7 years old, speaks 4 languages and for him its normal to speak different languages.
We learned to let go, unnecessary things that you are attached with, which is not a big issue or difficult for us, because we always live in a simple life back in Holland.
It didn't happen overnight, it took 4 years for us, to have the courage and with a blink of an eye, we said "Let's go to Spain" with only 4 luggage with us plus our 5 year old son. It was adventure and we landed here in a beautiful place called ISLANTILLA. A family of 3 can live from 800-1,000 euros/month in Islantilla.
1. The house rent is cheaper compare to other places. We been to Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena up to Nerja in Costa del Sol. We saw Las Palmas- Canary Island, Almeria, Cyprus,Greece, Malta, Portugal, Germany, Florida. I lived in the island of Bahamas, Philippines, Bulgaria and lived in Holland but nothing can compare the lifestyle here in Islantilla. You can rent 250/month (whole year round) with 2 bedrooms and terrace with swimming pool up to 800 euros a month.
We are renting a two bedrooms apartment for 300 euro with swimming pool and golf view. I called it Teletubbies land, because its green, lot of pine trees, birds, just like the Teletubbies, living in a park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7M5HbRSU-M
2. It's green and and a lot of space. During winter time, approxiamately 2,000 people living in Islantilla and La Antilla. You have all the space, peace and quietness that you need.
3. It's a friendly family place. Everybody knows each other. We have only school in Islantilla. The primary school- Las Gaviotas. Children living from Isla Cristina and Lepe neighboring towns) attend this school. It's a bilingual school.
4. It's safe to live. Safe for the children to play outside or inside the urbanization. Food is cheaper compare to Holland. There'plenty of food choices, from fish to fresh vegestable and fruits. They have the best and cheapest oranges, kaki's,strawberries and more in Islantilla.
5. Children are away from material things, malls, shops, entertainment, drugs or alcohol, no distraction at all. Children can just focus on their studies.
There's a lot of shops open during the summer time, but not in the winter time. If you want to shop you can go to Lepe (10 km from Islantilla) or Huelva or Sevilla. But all your basic needs they have it here, so don't worry.
6. There's plenty of retired Dutch, Germans, Zwedish and some English living in Islantilla especially during the winter time, because of the nice weather. There is called La Ciguena in Islantilla, now they changed it to AMA Hotel Andalucian were retired Dutch people stay and enjoy their pensions. They have their own nurses, doctors, physical therapist etc.
7. The space, green, nature and ocean are best part. It is flat so you can just bike in the whole area.
8. If you want to play golf then this is the best place for you. Check my blog for more information.
